How Ranking Labs started.

About ten years ago I built donneespersonnelles.fr — a legal compliance platform for data protection. Everything was driven by SEO. I wrote expert articles, they ranked, people signed up. No ads, no outbound. Over time the newsletter grew to 50,000 subscribers. The product turned into Legiscope, a full SaaS platform, and it worked.

Except I was drowning in content.

Writing expert-level articles on GDPR compliance takes time. I tried freelancers — they'd get the nuances wrong, and I'd spend more time correcting their work than writing it myself. The bottleneck wasn't traffic, wasn't the product, wasn't the market. It was me, sitting at a keyboard, writing articles I didn't have time to write.

When LLMs arrived I thought: finally. So I started building. The first version was terrible — generic, flat, it read like AI. Then I started talking to SEO agencies, running data studies across niches, and something clicked.

Lawyers want walls of text. Gamblers don't.

It sounds obvious once you say it, but it changes everything about how you build content. A GDPR article for legal professionals looks nothing like an iGaming guide. The structure is different, the depth is different, the images, the tone — even the sentence length. Every audience has its own expectations, and those expectations are measurable. We studied thousands of top-ranking pages across niches, measured 158 ranking signals, and built those patterns directly into the engine.

18 months of R&D. Thousands of pipeline runs. Over 10,000 test articles. That's what it took to get to a system that produces content I'd actually publish on my own site.

Ranking Labs is the tool I needed and couldn't find. I'm making it available to agencies who hit the same wall — too much content to produce, not enough experts to produce it.
